We’re a family of five, and four of us (the four that aren’t in medical school) have packed up our home to spend a year (maybe more…) travelling Europe and a bit of Africa in a beautiful (old-ish) Hymer motorhome.
Its something that we’ve been talking about for several years but a few months ago we decided that the time seemed right. The kids were keen, they were at a good point in their schooling (and still young enough for us to be able to teach them a thing or two..).So, we packed up most of our possessions – some went into storage, some went into the van and some we said goodbye to. We rented out the house and in April 2016 we set off for a year to see what else is out there.
Instagram beaches and sunsets it won’t be (probably!) We don’t know how it’ll turn out, but that’s the point really. We spend our lives like passing ships in the night and it’s too easy to just keep doing the same thing, until it’s too late to try something different. So we’re trying it now.
The blog will grow as we go but if there is anything specific you think we should be talking about or that you’d like to know then please get in touch here or let us know in the comments on our posts. We’d love to hear from you.
So please sign up to follow the blog and/or follow us on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram (see the links on the top right) and we hope to hear from you and maybe see you on the road…
Some Posts below…because Lottie made me put them here.

We’re on the road!

5 days to go – council rant
This is one of the things that I really didn’t picture when we started talking about going travelling, but it’s probably one of the most important things I’ve learnt so...
7 Days to go!
7 days to go until the four of us jump in the Hymer and head off for a year. Today was all about packing 99% of a family home into...
Feel the fear and do it anyway.
It’s 5.29am and I’m awake. Why? Well apart from the fact that Chris is snoring really loudly (REALLY LOUDLY!) I’m awake because I’m anxious. It’s less than two weeks until we set off and whilst part of me is excited to be heading off on an adventure, at the moment I’m more scared than anything. I keep thinking about all the things that could go wrong...
