5 days to go – council rant

This is one of the things that I really didn’t picture when we started talking about going travelling, but it’s probably one of the most important things I’ve learnt so far. You can leave everything behind apart from bureaucracy and yourself. 🙂

Councils are a joke. I have given up recycling and put everything in the normal bin again. Decided that I would place the same priority on my recycling that the council does…… which is nil.

On a side note, what are the roads like from Anglesey to the main UK motorway network? We are heading off in September and live in Northern Ireland so don’t know whether to do Belfast to Stranraer (100 miles single carriageway to M6 at Carlisle then 380 miles to Dover) or drive the 100 miles to Dublin and take the ferry to Holyhead. I have never used that route before.

Hi Alan, at the risk of sounding all ‘worthy and preachy’… please don’t just put it all in the bin. I agree that our local authorities should provide us with fit for purpose services, but the shared responsibility is still ours and bureaucracy should not be an excuse for us giving up.
As for the roads from Anglesey to the UK, you have the dual carriageway A55 which runs from the port in Holyhead and connects you directly to the motorways. Don’t rush through though, Anglesey is a great place to visit in itself. Bryn Celli Ddu, Marram Grass, Llanddwyn Island…
